Investment Analyst (m/f/d)

Your Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Investment Analyst (m/f/d) to join our investment team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting NeXtWind's M&A and financing activities, post-acquisition integration, valuations, value-creation, and decision-making processes. The Investment Analyst (m/f/d) will be responsible for supporting investment opportunity origination, analysis and execution, leading due diligence workstreams, owning financial models and valuations as well as preparing committee materials for investment decisions. Furthermore, the Investment Analyst (m/f/d) will play a key role in the value creation within NeXtWind’s operating portfolio.
 
 
Your Team:
We are a group of highly driven individuals with backgrounds in Investment Banking / M&A, Private Equity / Infrastructure Investments and Strategy Consulting. As such, we operate similarly to an infrastructure investment team in a fund, executing transactions and driving value creation for our assets simultaneously. This means covering the entire skill set of an investment professional, including i.a. process management, financial modelling, valuation and debt financing. We work proactively and with a high degree of intra-team and intra-company collaboration, with direct exposure to decision makers such as senior management and shareholders.

Your mission

M&A Execution and Due Diligence:
  • Work as a deal team member on the execution of competitive and bilateral M&A processes to acquire additional assets and business units for NeXtWind.
  • Lead due diligence workstreams with reputable market advisors to analyse all relevant aspects of an M&A deal.
  • Prepare materials for NeXtWind’s decision makers, including its senior management, investment committee and board of directors, all consisting of members with the highest degree of professionalism and industry experience.
  • Originate, develop and execute new acquisition opportunities.
Financial Modelling and Valuation:
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to assess the impact of various business scenarios and initiatives.
  • Perform optimization analyses to find the optimum value for our business units under the constraints and parameters provided by our in-house operating departments.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses to evaluate potential risks and opportunities, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Utilize advanced financial modelling techniques and cutting-edge AI software solutions to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
Value Creation in Business Units:
  • Work as an active member in NeXtWind’s business units, providing necessary analyses to enable investment and operating decisions in day-to-day operations.
  • Identify key value levers and drive value creation through execution.
  • Take ownership of the investment activities within the business units, including originating and executing add-on acquisitions.
  • Support the analysis and optimization of debt financing options.
Database Automation:
  • Support the development of a fully integrated in-house database.
  • Enable automated financial analytics processes through database connection and usage of state-of-the-art AI tools.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Management, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of experience as an Analyst/Associate in Investment Banking, or as an Analyst/Manager in a Renewables, Utilities or Consulting firm, with a strong focus on financial modelling and valuation.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and demonstrated expertise in financial modelling. Experience with AI and data analysis tools is a strong plus.
  • Passion for the energy transition and high interest in the renewable energy sector.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in German (native) and English (proficient), both written and spoken.
  • Living in or willing to relocate to Berlin.
